Participants traveling this morning will enjoy a stunning flight from Islamabad to Skardu, with a chance to see Nanga Parbat, weather permitting. Upon arrival in Skardu, the day is yours to explore at your leisure.
After breakfast, participants will hike to Kharpocho Fort, perched on a mountain with breathtaking views of the Indus River and Skardu town. You’ll also have the option to visit Sadpara Lake, followed by free time for shopping in Skardu Bazaar. While you enjoy the sights, our staff will handle the necessary government documentation, which may take up to two days. We’ve built in contingency days at the end of the trek to accommodate any delays.
Participants will embark on a jeep safari to Daso, traveling through the stunning Shigar Valley alongside the Braldu River, which extends to Askole. Askole marks the last village on our route, where participants will start their trek after leaving the jeeps behind. Depending on road conditions, you may begin your walk before reaching Askole. The journey will take approximately six to eight hours to complete.
After finalizing the necessary supplies and equipment, the porters will prepare for the trek to Jhola. This valley serves as the gateway to the Biafo Glacier, which flows over fifty kilometers from Hispar La to Braldu. Participants will navigate the moraine as they cross the glacier's snout and descend to the lunch spot beside the Korofon River.
The route will lead us to the confluence of the Braldu and Domordo rivers. Instead of the older trail, we’ll take a new path upstream, crossing the river via a bridge. After crossing, participants will descend to the edge of the Braldu River and follow the riverbank to reach the camp at Jhola.
On this day of the K2 Base Camp trek, participants will follow the Braldu Gorge along the riverbank, enjoying stunning views of Trango Tower and Cathedral Peak. To avoid sunburn, it's important to stay protected, as conditions can be dry and hot.
Along the way, several glacier-fed streams may require river crossing shoes, depending on water levels. On a clear day, you’ll spot the snout of Baltoro Glacier. The day will conclude with a climb away from the river to reach the camp at Paiju, the last campsite with trees for a while.
Participants will spend the day at Paiju Camp for acclimatization and rest. Meanwhile, the porters will bake bread for the upcoming week on the glacier. For those interested, an acclimatization walk to the base camp of Paiju Peak is also available.
On this day, the trek will be challenging, but the scenery will become increasingly breathtaking as you approach the snout of Baltoro Glacier. The trail features continuous up and down climbs over the glacial moraine; while it's generally safe, participants should remain cautious at all times.
As you progress, you'll enjoy stunning views of Trango Tower and Uli Biaho. Participants will need to cross the glacier to reach Liligo, after which the route will follow a rocky trail along the edge of the Baltoro Glacier, eventually leading to Khoburtse, where camp will be set up.
Trango Towers can be eventually seen after coming across two small glaciers. For the following night the participants will make their stop at Urdukas near the army camp. The camp is 100m above the glacier.
On this day of the K2 Base Camp trek, participants will walk through the heart of the glacier, following the medial moraine. To the south, you'll enjoy views of Masherbrum (7821m) as you navigate the rocky moraine, passing impressive ice seracs along the way.
Tonight, you'll camp for the first time on Baltoro Glacier at Goro II, where the Baltoro and Younghusband glaciers meet. Be prepared for a significant drop in temperature, with stunning views of Masherbrum and Muztagh Tower unfolding before you.
On this day of the K2 Base Camp trek, participants will reach Concordia after a continuous ascent along the moraine. As you walk, more high snow-capped peaks will come into view, culminating in your first sighting of K2. Other notable peaks visible include Broad Peak, Mitre Peak, Gasherbrum, Sia Kangri, and many more.
Today, we’ll trek up the Godwin-Austen Glacier to the Art Gilkey Memorial, dedicated to those lost on K2. We'll start early, crossing glaciers along a faint trail that leads us closer to K2, which grows more majestic with each step.
After about three hours, we’ll reach Broad Peak Base Camp, where you can choose to turn back. We'll have lunch here before continuing towards K2.
Just before Base Camp, the memorial is nestled among boulders and ice, offering stunning views of K2 and potential climbing expeditions. After visiting the memorial, we’ll return to Concordia.
On this day of the K2 base camp trek, the participants will have to leave this camp and move back towards Goro I. The trek on this day will be quite easy and you will be descending down.
Today, participants will trek to the campsite at Urdukas, following the same trail down via the glacier to Goro I. Along the way, you'll enjoy stunning views of the Trango Towers before reaching Khurburtse. Although it's the same trail, the perspective on the return journey will offer a fresh and different experience.
On this day of the K2 Base Camp trek, participants will walk down alongside the glacier via Liligo, marking the last stretch where the trail shifts from moraine to relatively stable ground. After a break, you'll find yourself among trees, enjoying a well-deserved stay at the Paiju campsite.
Today's walk will be easier as participants follow the same trail back to the Braldu Gorge. There may be some river crossings along the way. The day will end with a campsite set up at Jhola.
On this day, participants will return to Askole village, walking along the river to the bridge. After lunch, they'll enjoy some relaxation for their feet as they are transferred by jeep back to Skardu.
This day is set aside for any potential delays during the trek to ensure guests don’t miss their domestic flights. Delays can arise from various factors, including roadblocks. You can use this time for sightseeing in Skardu.
On this day, participants will fly from Skardu to Islamabad, enjoying time to relax at the hotel upon arrival.
Please note that domestic flights may be canceled due to weather conditions. In the event of a cancellation, you'll drive to Chilas for an overnight stay, which takes about eight to ten hours by vehicle.
This day is reserved for any potential delays if the domestic flight didn't operate the previous day. Guests will depart early from Chilas to Islamabad, a journey that can take up to ten hours. However, if participants arrive in Islamabad on the domestic flight, it will be a free day for sightseeing in the city.
Participants will fly back to their home country today. Safe travels!
