Upon arrival, one of our team members will greet you at Islamabad Airport and escort you to your hotel. Look for our staff holding a sign with our company name. Please ensure you provide your flight details 3 to 4 days before your arrival.
You will be transferred to a partner hotel in Islamabad, conveniently located near the Margalla Hills. After settling in and resting, clients are required to pay any outstanding dues. A briefing regarding the expedition will take place in Skardu.
On the second day of the Trango Tower Expedition, we will take a morning flight to Skardu. Known as the logistical hub for expeditions and treks in the Karakoram Range, Skardu offers breathtaking views during the flight from Islamabad, including the majestic Nanga Parbat among other towering peaks.
Upon arrival in Skardu, one of our team members will be waiting at the airport to escort you to the partner hotel. If you arrive early, you’ll have time to relax and explore the local bazaar and the scenic outskirts of Skardu city.
Skardu is a picturesque town nestled along the Indus River and surrounded by stunning mountains. After breakfast, we will check our equipment for the Trango Tower expedition, ensuring that we have everything needed. If any items are missing, we'll have the opportunity to buy or rent them.
Once we're set with our gear, we'll embark on an acclimatization hike to Kharpocho Fort, located just a short distance from the Skardu bazaars. This historic fort offers breathtaking views of the Indus River, Skardu, and the surrounding landscape, providing a perfect introduction to the area's natural beauty.
Early in the morning, we will set off for Moongrong or Paju. Our first destination is Askoli Village, where we'll travel with our crew and supplies. This will be a 5- to 7-hour jeep drive from Skardu. About half an hour into the journey, we’ll enter Shigar Valley, home to the second-highest peak in the world.
As we drive along the lush green fields of Shigar Valley and beside the Shigar River, the landscape becomes more dramatic as we approach the mountains. The narrow track will guide us along the Braldu River to Askoli, the last village on our route for the Trango Tower Expedition.
After enjoying lunch at Askoli, we will continue our journey toward Moongrong or Paju. At the campsite, our porters, climbing assistants, and kitchen crew will join us. Our staff will set up the tents, and participants will be welcomed with a hot cup of tea, cookies, and snacks. We'll gather in the mess tent for dinner and spend the night in a fully serviced campsite, ready for the adventures ahead.
On this day of the Trango Tower Expedition, we will begin our trek toward the base camp. If we start from Moongrong camp, it will be a challenging and lengthy day. However, if we're trekking from Paju camp, it will be a more manageable journey.
After about an hour of walking from Paju camp, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of Trango Towers, Uli Baiho, and Paju Peak. We will then take a left turn toward Trango Base Camp, veering off the regular trekking route that leads to K2 and other peaks.
The trek continues for 6 to 7 hours across the rough moraine of the glacier, eventually bringing us to Trango Base Camp. Once we arrive, we will set up camp and spend the night, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of this remarkable landscape.
During this phase of the expedition, we will dedicate days 6 to 30 to climbing activities at Trango Tower. Each day will involve rigorous climbing, acclimatization, and practice on various routes. Our experienced guides will assist you in navigating the challenges of this iconic peak while ensuring safety and efficiency.
On this day, we will conclude our climbing activities at Trango Tower and begin our trek back to Moongrong Camp. The descent will offer a chance to reflect on the incredible experiences we've had and the challenges we've overcome.
Along the way, several glacier-fed streams may require river crossing shoes, depending on water levels. On a clear day, you’ll spot the snout of Baltoro Glacier. The day will conclude with a climb away from the river to reach the camp at Paiju, the last campsite with trees for a while.
After our time at Moongrong Camp, we will embark on the drive back to Skardu, passing through the breathtaking Shigar Valley. The journey will be filled with stunning views of lush landscapes and towering mountains, providing a perfect backdrop as we reflect on our adventure.
If all goes smoothly, we'll take a PIA flight back to Islamabad, enjoying the aerial views of the stunning landscapes below.
In the event of flight cancellations, we will drive to Chilas. This scenic drive offers a unique opportunity to experience the beautiful terrain of northern Pakistan. The journey will take several hours, but it’s a chance to appreciate the natural beauty and vibrant culture along the way.
Rest day at Islamabad or drive to Islamabad from Chilas in case of flight cancelation.
Today, participants will conclude their Trango Tower Expedition and prepare for their journeys back to their respective countries. After a final breakfast together, you'll have the opportunity to reflect on the incredible experiences and friendships forged during this adventure.
Tonight, you'll camp for the first time on Baltoro Glacier at Goro II, where the Baltoro and Younghusband glaciers meet. Be prepared for a significant drop in temperature, with stunning views of Masherbrum and Muztagh Tower unfolding before you.
